New Stop Drop and Go Zone - Trial

We are excited to finally announce that the new Stop, Drop and Go Zone is ready for a Term 1 test run! We will soon begin a trial period, which aims to reduce the number of vehicles moving through the school grounds – this is particularly important while students are arriving and departing. This new adjustment will create a safer environment for all.

New Drop Off and New Pick up - Video Demo

Please take a moment to view our student-produced video (click here for the link) that demonstrates how the new zone will work for parents using the before school drop-off and after school pick-up.

THE TRIAL:

  • Partial Trial - The Drop off before school trial starts from Thursday 27 March (Week 9) and all of Week 10:

The Boom Gates will be closed from 7:45am. Before school care parents are typically here before this time and therefore will be able to enter the school via Ironbark Road, as usual. Instrumental music students have before school rehearsal days (starting by 7:45am) and so parents will be able to use the Turning Circle as usual (so long as they arrive before 7:45am). Parents may choose to continue to use the on-street drop-off/pick-up area along Ironbark Road.

  • Full- Trial - The Drop off and Pick Up Trial starts from Monday 31 March (Week 10)

We will continue the new before school drop-off trial and start the new after-school pick-up. Students using the pick-up zone need to move directly from class to the new area. If a student is not in the undercover area, parents will have to exit and return to the end of the queue (there is no space to park and wait – it is Stop, Drop and Go).

We expect to see a few teething problems but the trial should help us review and refine our processes ready to be fully operational from Term 2. Your cooperation and understanding during this transition are greatly appreciated. Parents may choose to continue to use the on-street drop off/pick up area along Ironbark Road.

The Boom Gates

The boom gates are currently in the open position. From Thursday 27 March, the entry boom gates will be open from 6:30am - 7:45am.  After this time both gates will be automatically lowered thereby restricting entry into the school grounds.

  • Exiting the school when the boom gate is closed.
A car can exit the school by slowly approaching the lowered boom gate and it will automatically open to allow the vehicle to leave the school grounds.
  • Entering the school when the boom gate is closed.
There will be very little opportunity to drive into the school grounds during times when students are on site (the trial will start with the entry gates being closed from 7:45am to 4pm and close again at 7:45pm). If there is a special need to enter the school – there is a comms button to press and an Admin Officer will assist via the speaker system. Special circumstances may require some drivers to have their own access code to enter (e.g. student with a broken foot).
