YR 6 CANBERRA TRIP 8 – 12 SEPTEMBER

DEPARTING BRISBANE AIRPORT ON SUNDAY 8 SEPTEMBER

1. Your child MUST check his/her name off with their designated teacher. This is very important as we must make sure everyone is present.
2. Your child must remain with their teacher. You and your child will then proceed with their teacher to the check in counter as a group.
3. Please note that the baggage allowance is not more than 23kg.
4. Students will then move in groups to the Departure Lounge (Teachers will hold individual student boarding passes.

RETURNING ON THURSDAY 12 SEPTEMBER - AIRPORT
Please collect your child from the arrival gate, accompany them to the luggage carousel, and notify your child’s teacher prior to departing the terminal. Please remember to collect your child’s medication from the teacher at this time.

Traditionally, the day after the Canberra trip a majority of the Year 6 students stay at home after a very long week. Any students attending will be placed in other available classes.

MEDICATION

Please have all medication labelled and in zip locked bags (along with all relevant paperwork) and given to the classroom teachers during the week 2 – 6 September. Medication is to be handed in by an adult – your child can not bring their medication onto school grounds. Medication can not be packed in your child’s bag/suitcase.
As you can appreciate, it would be very difficult to collect all the medication at the airport.
If possible, please do not send in large bottles such as liquid Panadol due to flight restrictions.
NOTE: 100ml max each item for carry-on luggage.

Prescription Medication
a) Medication must be provided in the original container. The medication container is to have a valid pharmacy label which includes the name of the prescribing health practitioner. Medication with only a pharmacy label can only be accepted provided there is a GP letter detailing the use of the medication or a completed and signed health Action Plan.
b) A “Consent to Administer Medication” form is to be completed. Click this link to download the form.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

Should circumstances arise resulting in your child not being able to attend, or fall ill during the trip and needs medical care or a return home, monies paid is non-refundable from the school. It is recommended that you seek personal travel insurance for your child to enable you to lodge a claim through your insurance - for any out of pocket expenses.

Camp Objectives

As well as the educational objectives of the trip, children can gain considerable benefit from the experience of having to make their own decisions and organising themselves for the week. We have been emphasising this point of being responsible and would appreciate parents supporting this expectation.

We look forward to our students having a wonderful school trip – thank you for your support. Don’t forget to follow the camp on the school Facebook page.
